The Object is the works of "short prose" of N.N. Berberova 1920-1950-ies: collections "Biyankur holidays", "Stories in exile", "Stories are not about love"; the goal is to define the genre specificity of N. Berberova's "short prose"; methods are biographical, cultural-historical, psychological, methods of comparative and intertextual analysis; novelty consists in the genre aspect of N. Berberova's "short prose" is explored at the first time, most of the text corpus has never before been the object of literary analysis; the results are the refinement and complementation of ideas about genre modifications of works of fiction, can be used in writing literary studies of various levels - coursework, diploma and master's works, monographs, textbooks and teaching aids for higher and general schools; the branch (direction) is philology.
