Essay

The thesis is devoted to research of the influence of physical and topological parameters of tunable cylindrical metal-dielectric resonator on its resonant characteristics such as frequency, quality factor and coupling coefficient between the resonator and transmission line. The microelectromechanical tuning method for cylindrical metal-dielectric resonators is proposed. The method allows maintaining the unloaded quality factor and the coupling coefficient between the resonator and transmission line of the initial resonant element over the whole tuning range. The calculation technique for resonant characteristics of the tunable cylindrical metal-dielectric resonator is proposed. The technique allows calculation of resonant frequency, unloaded quality factor and coupling coefficient between the resonator and transmission line. The technique is based on the mode matching technique and finite integration technique. The prototype of the tunable cylindrical metal-dielectric resonator was developed. Its performance has been measured. The influence of geometrical and electrical parameters of the tunable cylindrical metal-dielectric resonator on its frequency characteristics, unloaded quality factor and coupling coefficient between the resonator and transmission line has been analyzed.
