Essay

In this dissertation, the author studies and analyzes various ways of word-building in Japanese literary terminology (e.g., borrowing, affixation etc.), semantic peculiarities and functional features in technical texts, which contain literary terms (like poetical treatises). Researching Japanese literary terminology is topical today, because the comprehension of this subject, which implies some cultural and mental peculiarities, would be effective to understand one of the world cultures and to add some observation to theoretic terminology and literary terminology. The object of the study is Japanese literary terms and concepts, which belong to three classical literary genres: epic, poetry and drama. The subject of the study constructs structural, semantic and textual peculiarities of Japanese literary terms: the types of term-building (morphological, syntactic and lexical ones as well as borrowing), homonymy, synonymy, antonymy, polysemy etc.
