Essay

The complex research of sexual functioning in adolescents with autism spectrum disorders was made. The features of the behavioral component of sexuality in adolescents with ASD were discovered, the types of inappropriate sexual behavior are described. The degree of adequacy of gender roles and gender identity, and the level of sexual knowledge consistence in adolescents with autism spectrum disorders were analyzed. The wide analysis of factors related to the sexual functioning on both levels behavioral and psychological is given. The key role of sexual knowledge consistency in formation of appropriate sexual behavior, gender identity and gender role was discovered. The guidelines on sexual education for adolescents with ASD were developed based on the results of current research.
