Iasirova I. Party system of Republic of Cyprus under the conditions of European integration

The dissertation is concerned with analysis of the party system in Republic of Cyprus under the conditions of the country's integration into the European Union as well as with development of recommendations on the basis thereof as per the opportunities of using the experience of Cypriot parties in Ukraine. The paper has systematized the theoretical approaches to the study of party systems and analyzed the modern condition as well as the extent of previous research and the amount of sources meant for the study of the Cypriot party system under the conditions of European integration. The author has analyzed the development process of the Cypriot party system in the period of preparation for accession to the EU, considered the stages, characterized the factors of influence on the formation of a political system, analyzed the main strategies of modernizing a party system before acquiring official membership in the European Union and determined the Cypriot parties' views on the country's European integration. The author has also researched the transformation of the Cypriot party system in the framework of the EU, determined the new features and phenomena in the functioning of the system during 2004-2016, defined the way the multi-party system was developing and the way the balance of forces was changing as a result of the national parliamentary and presidential elections and researched the election to the European Parliament in Republic of Cyprus as a factor of influence on the Cypriot party system. In the context of studying the experience of the Cypriot party system's functioning under the conditions of European integration and in the context of the problem of the country's reunion, the author has determined the opportunities of using thereof in Ukraine.
