Essay

The purpose of this research project was to give a comprehensive theoretical account of the subject matter and present a novel methodological approach to a sustainable forest management strategy formation. To solve this issue, the thesis presents an original matrix approach, which brings together the strategic goal, its environmental, social and economic tasks, along with organizational, legal, economic and financial instruments, that collectively provide relevant mechanisms aimed at implementing strategic configurations at national, regional and local levels. Considerable insight has been gained with regard to identification and verification of classification features of forest resources distribution within the framework of sustainable forest management. The procedure of the research is a clear improvement on current conceptual approach to the assessment of the influence of institutional factors on the process of a sustainable forest management strategy formation, as well as methodological approach to analyzing advantages and disadvantages, potentialities and risks in forest management with due regard to sectoral and regional data analytics and relationship between the parties concerned. The findings also provide a rationale for conceptual approaches to model forests and forest clusters creation in the region. Finally, the research has obtained accurate results with regard to strategic sustainable forest management areas identification within the group of administrative districts, which were distributed by taking into account the level of forest cover and socio-economic specifics of the area.
