Essay

The thesis is dedicated to studying of the conceptual and applied aspects of the influence of the Muslim factor on European integration processes and the clarification of the role of political actors in the formation of identity through the legitimation of their own discourse. The work is based on a synthesis of theoretical and methodological approaches to the nature of European identity in foreign and domestic scientific thought, a study of the current state of European identity in the context of the political structures of the EU, as well as on determining its role in shaping the foreign policy component of European identity. For the first time in the Ukrainian political science the modern policy of integration of immigrants in France, Germany and the Netherlands has been profoundly investigated; the strategic and tactical approaches of the three countries' politics to the transformation of European and national identity are considered at the comparative level. This research determined, based on political analysis, the peculiarities of the influence of the Muslim factor on European identity formation under the turbulent conditions of European integration processes, while establishing that the strategies of foreign and domestic policy of European countries provide the traditional initiative of ensuring national interests, as well as constructive approaches to the policy of European identity formation in the Muslim communities. Attention has been given to the role of the foreign policy component in European identity formation.
