Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the issue of improvement in the diagnosis and treatment of stage II hypertension combined with carotid atherosclerosis. It was established that hypertension in this patients' category is characterized by a predominance of unfavourable blood pressure profile, aggressive processes of cardiovascular remodelling, the statistically significant increase in ectopic activity of heart and high urotensin II level. The data obtained indicate the advisability of treatment with lercanidipine in the presence of carotid atherosclerosis and with candesartan in the absence of carotid lesion in patients with stage II hypertension.
