Essay

The object: fantastic of the second half of the twentieth century: the novel of V. Drozd "Irii" (1974), novel-ballad of V. Shevchuk "Home on the hill" (1983), dilogy of V. Zemlyak "Swan Flock" (1971) and "Green Mills" (1976), novels of O. Ilchenko "No end to Cossack kin or Cossack Mamay and foreign woman" (1958), E. Gutsalo "A borrowed husband" (1982), P. Zagrebelniy "Lionheart" (1978), V. Iavorivskiy "Look of autumn" (1979) and dilogy of V. Miniaylo "Stars and herrings", "On the bright stars" (1979). Objective: identify the singularity of mythologem "road" functioning in Ukrainian fantastic of the second half of the twentieth century and its artistic significance development. Methods of research: mythological, hermeneutic, cultural and historical methods, and the contextual and descriptive-analytical approaches to the literature study. Results and novelty: it has been specified the general idea about the road image in folklore and mythological consciousness of Ukrainian people, it has been defined the opinion on chronotope of the road in epic work structure, and for the first time it has been developed completely and fully the artistic realization methods of mythologem "road" in prose of O. Ilchenko, V. Zemlyak V. Drozd, V. Miniaylo, V. Iavorivsky, E. Gutsalo, V. Shevchuk, P. Zagrebelniy. Sphere of use: courses of Ukrainian literature history in higher educational establishments, preparation of textbooks and manuals of literature history, research work of students, masters and PhD students.
