Essay

Dissertation work is devoted to a holistic research of the "Russian-Ukrainian Dictionary" edited by A.Y. Crymskiy and S.O. Yefremov (RUD-1933) in connection with the development of theory and practice of Ukrainian lexicography, display of temporal and spatial dynamics of language norms and historical source study. Justified a lexicographic and lexical normativity of the RUD-1933 compared with the previous and next translation dictionaries in a descriptive and prescriptive dimension. Investigated the Ukrainian part of the eliminated registry of the Dictionary; has been established vocabulary, its grammar and structural features to the descriptive and prescriptive norm of the early XX century, to the theory and practice of concluding general language translation dictionaries; characterized the source base of the Dictionary from the formal and semantic views; reconstructed model of its volume IV and possible source list, classified by genre and stylistic principle.
