The object: novels "Pereyaslavska Rada" by N. Rybak, "Ukraine was talking" by P. Panch, "Kossak people has no end or Mamay and another Girl" (1958) by O. Ilchenko, "Nalyvayko" and the trilogy "Khmelnitsky", which compose epic "Ukraine", by Ivan Le, "Hetman Kirilo Rozumovsky" by M. Lazorsky, "Mallows", "Crane Cry", "Horde" by R. Ivanychuk, "Secret Ambassador", "Milky Way" by V. Malik, "Severyn Nalyvayko", "Maxim Kryvonis", "Ivan Sirko" by V. Kulakovsky, "I am Bogdan" by P. Zagrebelniy, "How Mamay went to Canada" V. Brovchenko, "Yasa", "Chase" by Yu. Mushketyk, "Oath" by G. Knysh, "Clean Field" by L. Gorlach, triology "Zasvity", "Between eagles and the moon", "Ander Savur-grave" by A. Hymko, "Fortress on the Borisphen " by V. Chemerys, "Severyn Nalyvaiko" by M. Vingranovskiy. Objective: by means of aspect-composite analysis of outstanding Cossacks' artistic images in Ukrainian novels of the second part of the XXth century we identify their specific of functioning in the artistic worlds of these works. Methods of research: method of aspect-composite analysis, cultural-historical, culturological, biographical, psychological, comparative methods. Results and novelty: for the first time we have made an attempt of multidisciplinary studying of specificity of outstanding Cossack's image-type in Ukrainian novels of the second part of the XXth century. On the basis of it we can defect three subperiods of its development. Together they have turned this image into independent literary phenomenon; for the first time we identify role and place of outstanding Cossack in the artistic world of novel through genre features of the work; we also identify the palette of writers' methods of its formation or introduction to the plot; for the first time we identify poetological dominants of Ukrainian novel of the second part of the XXth century in the aspect of creation of outstanding Cossack's image and reveal their evolution accoding to studied subperiods. Sphere of use: educational courses on the history of Ukrainian literature for philology students, meaningful filling of museum and tourist excursions of subject appropriate.
