Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of theoretical grounding, practical development and experimental verification of methods applied to teaching communicative strategies of professionally-oriented written communication in English to future mechanical engineers. The reorientation of modern paradigm of higher technical education from knowledge accumulation and professional skills formation to training a spiritually mature, innovative and active professional who is capable of making innovative decisions and implementing innovative product into business projects requires implementing effective method of teaching professionally-oriented communication. The problem of teaching professionally-oriented written communication in a foreign language is investigated in numerous works by Ukrainian and foreign scientists, but the methods of forming strategic competence to create secondary texts of patent documents by the students of technical specialties (including future mechanical engineers) has not been the subject of a special study. Thus, the relevance of the study is caused by the needs of training specialists in engineering, able to present the results of their technological developments in a foreign language in the form of secondary texts of patent documentation and by the lack of research of the outlined problems both in theoretical and practical terms. In the study the communicative intentions of technical students in the situation of their research work have been determined. By the situation of student's scientific and research work while learning ESP we mean the interdisciplinary dynamic system of interacting factors that lead to realization of communicative intention of obtaining the necessary information from texts of patent documents in order to justify the relevance of a bachelor's diploma project.
