Essay

The work is devoted to the investigation of the bone mineral density, bone turnover markers and phosphor - calcium metabolism in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus. There have been stipulated functional and morphological features of bone mineral density. It depends on the compensation of diabetes mellitus, the duration of the postmenopausal period, degree of obesity and type of glucose-lowerіng therapy. Pathogenic features of hormonal regulation of bone metabolism in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus as hypoparathyreosis in combination with an imbalance of the bone remodeling, defined slowdown in the process of bone formation and osteoresorption have been stipulated too. There has been shown an increased risk of femoral bone fractures according to FRAX-index among postmenopausal women in case of increased duration of type 2 diabetes мellitus. There has been also justified the age limit reduction of women survey with type 2 diabetes mellitus, using DXA method till 60 years. As a result, there is a fact that the positive effect of insulin therapy on the bone mineral density extends to the lumbar spine. On the basis of the obtained scientific data, there has been developed an algorithm for diagnosis of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, with type 2 diabetes мellitus.
