This paper represents the evaluation of the results obtained in the experimental studies of effects produced by combined X-ray irradiation and sodium nitrate on testicles and sperm cells of the laboratory rats. The effects were assessed by the indices demonstrating the dynamics of oxidative and nitrative stress. The studies carried out suggest that further study of the gonado-protective properties of melatonin and inhibitors of NF-?B activation would be of particular clinical importance as they could reduce the damaging effects produced by ionizing radiation and some other toxic factors on the human body.
