Chekmariova . Crime prevention in cross-border regions of the south of Ukraine

The thesis is the first in Ukraine multi-method criminological research of crime prevention in cross-border regions of the south of Ukraine. The paper presents comparison results of generation, development and current status of scientific research of regional criminality problems and their prevention. Criminality in the cross-border region of the south of Ukraine is determined and characterized as an object of criminological research. The main framework methodology of research of criminality in the cross-border region of the south of Ukraine is analyzed. Criminological characteristics of criminality are provided herein, and criminological features of a criminal's personality in the cross-border regions of the south of Ukraine are revealed. The paper also submits a study of aggregate factors and distinguishing features in criminality determination in the cross-border regions of the south of Ukraine. It provides rationalization for the amount of general social, special criminological and preventive measures of crime prevention in the cross-border regions of the south of Ukraine with due regard to domestic and foreign experience in this field. There are defined the most important approaches in crime prevention under current conditions, and there are also enunciated recommendations aimed at the improvement of criminological methodology in the practical activities of crime prevention in the cross-border regions of the south of Ukraine.
