Essay

The thesis consists of four parts. In Chapter 1 the state of knowledge of the topic under study is analyzed and theoretical and methodological principles of the research are defined. In Chapter 2 the phenomena of transitional state and post-socialist state are investigated and their mutual connection is demonstrated. It is postulated that a transitional state does not make a separate type of a state, but is an inter-type unit. Chapter 3 contains the classification of the forms of a post-socialist state depending on the correlation of "monocratic" and "polycratic" elements of the form of state. Chapter 4 is devoted to the analysis of the stages of the transitional period and of the dependence of the transformation of a state form on a certain stage. The transformation of the Ukrainian state from gaining independence to the present is investigated. It is postulated that the present-day Ukrainian state can be labeled as a state with imperfect miktocratic progressive form.
