Shevchenko A. Methodology of teaching artistic design to future design specialists

The Thesis is devoted to the problem of forming the ability to artistic designing in the process of professional training of future design specialists. In the course of the research, the analysis of the genesis of design education has been made and its main directions of development in Ukraine and in the world have been determined. The essence of the competence-based approach in the process of teaching artistic design to future design specialists has been determined and training outcomes have been defined, through which specialized competencies are formed in order to prepare students for future professional activity, namely: artistic and aesthetic, visual, and designing. A pedagogical model of the process of teaching artistic design to future design specialists has been proposed in the thesis. The methodology of teaching fundamental artistic and design disciplines of academic qualification has been developed and substantiated. It has been proved that the implementation of the project-oriented method and the development of creative abilities in the process of training specialists, as well as creating favourable conditions and organizing educational and cognitive student activities with the use of project-oriented and integrative approaches have a significant influence on the formation of the ability to artistic and design activity. The effectiveness of the methodology proposed for teaching artistic design to future design specialists has been experimentally checked and the tools for assessing the effectiveness of forming the ability to artistic and design activities have been determined. In the course of the research, it has been concluded that the methodology proposed for teaching artistic design to future design specialists is expedient and effective and it could be introduced into the educational process of training of future design specialists.
