In the dissertation the complex research of problems of compulsory measures of a medical character in a criminal-law aspect is carried out. The concept of compulsory measures of a medical nature is formulated taking into account the possibility of their application to different categories of persons, their signs are clarified. The historical development of the institute of compulsory measures of medical character in the domestic legislation is analyzed. The legal nature and purpose of compulsory medical measures are determined. The preconditions and grounds for application, extension and termination of compulsory measures of medical nature were established, their content was clarified. A legal analysis of the types of compulsory measures of a medical nature has been carried out and their classification has been proposed. The legal consequences of the use of compulsory measures of a medical nature are analyzed.
