The thesis explores forensic examination of the damage to the human body and clothes caused by hunting rifled firearms using 8х57 mm cartridges with expanding bullets shot at various distances. Statistical analysis of the mortality rates in Lviv Region due to gunshot injuries based on the study of the 2009-2013 archival files of the Lviv Regional Bureau of Forensic Examination was carried out. The differences in the design of the bullets loaded into 8х57 mm hunting cartridges manufactured by Geco, RWS and Sellier&Bellot were ascertained. The morphological features of the damage to the biological objects caused by 8х57 mm hunting cartridges from Geco, RWS and Sellier & Bellot were studied, and the damage development regularities depending on the type of bullet expansivity and shooting distance were established. The character of the effect of the design particularities of 8х57 mm hunting cartridges from Geco, RWS and Sellier & Bellot equipped with expanding bullets on the development of the damage to the fabric was established. In order to ascertain the bullet type and shooting distance, as well as to determine the distance of the factors accompanying the shots, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and contact-diffusion method of colour prints were used to study the damage to the clothes simulators caused by shots using 8х57 mm hunting cartridges from Geco, RWS and Sellier & Bellot equipped with expanding bullets. The algorithm for a forensic examination aimed at diagnosing the damage to the human body and clothes caused by 8х57 mm hunting cartridges from Geco, RWS and Sellier & Bellot equipped with expanding bullets was developed.
