The dissertation is focused on studying the escheat of a succession under the civil law of Ukraine. The genesis of legislation and the points of view of scholars regarding the concept and legal nature of the escheat of a succession have been considered. The author has characterized the essence of the escheat of a succession as an independent civilised category. The author has formulated the concept and has provided the characteristics of the escheat of a succession. The composition of legal facts of the escheat of a succession has been determined. The necessity of allocating the concepts of "escheat property" and "escheat of a succession" has been proved. The author has identified the subjects of legal relations of the escheat of a succession. The objects of the escheat of a succession have been characterized. The features of the content of legal relations of the escheat of a succession have been revealed. The characteristic of the material and procedural grounds of the escheat of a succession has been provided.
