Essay

The object – chemical and toxicological investigation of mirtazapine, agomelatine and their metabolites; the purpose – development of effective and express methods of mirtazapine and agomelatine isolation from biological material, methods of their identification and quantification in a mixture with metabolites are suitable to purpose of forensic and clinical toxicology, studying investigated antidepressants distribution in animals organs and biological fluids; methods – chromogenic reactions, thin-layer chromatography, UV-spectrophotometry, gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, chromato-mass-spectrometry; results – methods of mirtazapine, agomelatine and their metabolites isolation from organs and biological fluids of the organism have been developed, complex of methods identification and quantitative determination of investigated toxicants in biological samples has been developed, using chromogenic tests, thin-layer chromatography, UV-spectrophotometry, gas chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, mass-spectrometry; the structure of the main metabolites of mirtazapine and agomelatine was established by chromato-mass-spectrometry and the structure of 5 new metabolites of these drugs was established; UV-spectrophotometric and gas-chromatographic methods of mirtazapine and agomelatine quantitative determination in liver tissue, blood and urine were validated; the distribution of investigated compounds in organs of poisoned animals was studied, which allows to select the optimal objects for forensic researches; introduced – into educational processes and scientific work of a number of specialized departments, as well as in the practical work of the Odessa regional bureau of forensic medicine; direction – pharmacy.
