Essay

The object of the research is the space-time and space-frequency transformations of the electromagnetic field in two-dimensional periodic structures in the conditions of possible resonance wave scattering. The goal of the research is the development and implementation of the efficient methods for solving the model initial-boundary problems of the theory of two-dimensional periodic structures, gratings and photonic crystals bounded in space; obtaining analytical results that form the basis for constructing the spectral theory of two-dimensional periodic gratings and photonic crystals; identification of the conditions and analysis of specific physical effects that support the radiation processes, the processes of propagation and scattering of pulsed and monochromatic waves incompact photonic crystals with various defects. Methods of research are strict analytical and numerical methods. The result is the development of efficient approaches to the study of processes of resonance scattering of pulsed and monochromatic waves by two-dimensional periodic structures. The application area is radiophysics.
