The scientific expediency of introducing the concept of "national tradition of biblical translations" into Ukrainian religious science is grounded, which is understood as a totality of textual and hermeneutic accents and linguistic specificity that is consistently repeated in all translations of Bible texts carried out in national territories or by representatives of this nation that originated and is transmitted on the basis of continuity doctrinal positions, methodological and hermeneutic programs of national interpreters The Bible, the translation practices and the theoretical reflection of the translation process, the creative interpretation of the national translation experience and the critical reception of the achievements of other translation traditions. The role of Bible translations in the development of national cultures of Christian countries, the specificity and function of national traditions of Bible translation is revealed. The periodization of the Ukrainian national tradition of Bible translation is proposed, which includes 2 stages: from the 11th to the 14th centuries. – Church Slavonic manuscripts translation and the actual Ukrainian-language stage of the Bible translation, the beginning of which coincides with the conventional date of the appearance of printing on Ukrainian lands. It is proved, that the Ukrainian national tradition of Bible translation is one of the oldest in Europe. It absorbed not only the Orthodox experience, but also the heritage of Catholic and Protestant schools of Bible translation. The activities of the UBU laid the foundation for this: the mechanisms for theological recognition and examination of new translations by the majority of Christian confessions of Ukraine, their wide distribution in Ukrainian society, are made, which makes quality Bible translations available to everybody. The state of Bible translation in Ukraine makes it possible to predict the further development of translations into modern Ukrainian language.
