Fedorkiv M. Pulmonary complications and their correction in the complex surgical treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis

Morphological changes of the lung in conditions of acute experimental pancreatitis in rats (n = 85) were studied for the first time in a complex way. 64 patients were examined for acute pancreatitis, monitoring of intraabdominal pressure which allowed to predict the disease with high reliability. The percutaneous drainage of acute peripancreatic fluid collections (over 400 cm3), combined with the use of infusion therapy for the metabolic drug "Cytoflavin", reduces intraabdominal pressure and pulmonary complications. The study developed algorithms for the treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis in the first 48 hours of the disease and prediction of the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome based on the quantitative determination of interleukin-8, interleukin-10 and tumor necrosis factor.
