The thesis focuses on the problem of teaching speech adaptation to future English language teachers aimed at the third-year students of foreign languages departments. The research provides theoretical substantiation and practical elaboration of the methodology of teaching speech adaptation to future English language teachers. The current state of scientific ideas concerning the problem of developing professionally oriented speaking skills has been analyzed. The notions of speech adaptation and complex speech adaptation have been specified; the most effective ways for increasing the pupils’ input comprehension are defined; the content of speech adaptation teaching is substantiated. The subsystem of activities for developing speech adaptation skills has been presented. It comprises four groups and twenty four subgroups of activities; the model of the teaching process has been worked out. The experimental teaching proves the validity of the suggested methodology; its optimal variant has been substantiated Methodological recommendations to teachers for organizing teaching speech adaptation to future English language teachers have been developed.
