The dissertation presents the results of theoretical, methodological and experimental research on the development of students' creative abilities on faculties of art education in the process of studying arts and crafts. The conducted research allowed to develop and verify the methods of development of this definition on the basis of purposeful use of artistic and practical potential of objects of environmental marginalization in the process of studying decorative and applied arts. The essence of this phenomenon is revealed, it was found out that the concept of "creative ability" of a person is considered in the scientific literature as a systemic quality of intelligence; a set of features of the psyche, which provide productive transformations in the activities of the individual; way of realizing a person's own personality. Understanding the views on the category under study allowed the authors to define the concept of "creative ability of students of the arts education faculties", to develop its content and structure, which consists of intellectual-volitional, figurative-sensory, motivational-value blocks. It was found out that development of creative abilities of students in the conditions of studying arts and crafts is possible on the basis of a combination of designing and manufacturing products with a utilitarian value and artistic value. Particular attention is paid to the concept of "environmental marginalization". It is revealed its connection with the regional specificity of the environment, design and field of artistic crafts; it is proved to promote the development of students' creative abilities. On the basis of the ecological, purpose of the subject and artistic and constructive approaches, the methodological model of the development of creative ability of students of art education faculties in the process of teaching arts and crafts is theoretically substantiated. The methodology was developed and implemented in the educational process, which covered three stages: preparatory, technological, artistic-realizing in the process of studying arts and crafts and the author's course "Artistic and practical creativity". The examination of the effectiveness of the experimental and experimental work was carried out on the basis of comparative analysis of the levels of development of the creative ability of students in the control and experimental groups. The results of the experimental verification showed positive changes in the levels of creativity in the experimental group, in contrast to the control group, which testifies to the effectiveness, the superiority of the methodology and the feasibility of its use in the educational process of the faculties of artistic education. The problem of developing the creative ability of students of the arts education faculties is not limited to the results of the study. Further study is required to develop the artistic abilities of future teachers of fine art by means of folk painting of different regions of Ukraine, as well as the development of methodological support for decorative and applied arts.
