The dissertation is devoted to the psychological peculiarities of formation of Ukrainian students' national self-consciousness. National self-consciousness is presented as a form of social consciousness with socio-political origin - on the one hand, and ethno-cultural background - on the other. It is considered as a reflexive level of national consciousness. The structural model of national self-consciousness is specified and presented. It includes such components: cognitive, emotional-valuable and regulatory. The external (the image of the nation) and the internal (national self-image) representations are highlighted in the cognitive and emotional-valuable components. The psychological peculiarities of the national self consciousness of students from the northern, southern, western and eastern regions of Ukraine are revealed; the common and specific characteristics of the nation in the national self-consciousness of Ukrainian students are determined; the features of collective self-assessment of Ukrainian students are researched; the analysis of the structure of the attitude towards nation by Ukrainian students is presented. The program of development of national self-consciousness of student youth of Ukraine was developed and approved. The peculiarities of formation of Ukrainian students' national self-consciousness are considered as intensification of responsibility for their national community, interest and sympathy for their nation, awareness of their own national-psychological features; reduction of the influence of self-prosecution; taking into consideration regional peculiarities of national self-consciousness, in particular, psychosemantic specificity.
