Essay

The dissertation is devoted to a comprehensive historical and pedagogical analysis of the process of formation and development of a textbook for mentally retarded children in Ukraine. The stages of the development of a textbook for children with intellectual disabilities in Ukraine have been identified and substantiated. Socio-political, socio-economic and organizational-pedagogical factors that influenced the process of theory and practice of formation and development of a special school textbook were determined. The contradictions and peculiarities of the development of the content of school textbooks in certain stages and prospective ways of their further improvementare highlighted. The innovative role of Ukrainian defectologists in the formation and development of textbooks for the auxiliary school is determined.
