General theoretical dissertation is devoted to the study of the foundations of legal regulation of the information society in modern foreign and domestic legal literature. The influence of various factors on the process of its formation, such as: political, ideological, economic, cultural, communicative, historical, etc. The theoretical aspect of the concept of legal regulation of the information society is characterized, attention is focused on its subject, object, method, functions, sphere of action, as well as the role of the state in shaping the foundations of legal regulation of the information society. The designation of the legal regulation of the information society in a narrow and broad sense is highlighted
