The thesis deals with the problem of forming prospective interpreters’ listening comprehension competence in the English language in distance learning. Theoretical background of listening comprehension competence formation in English for prospective interpreters in distance learning is analyzed. It encompasses the research problem genesis, methodological approaches for listening comprehension competence formation in English for prospective interpreters, the principles, the contents and structure of listening comprehension competence formation in English for prospective interpreters, psycholinguistic peculiarities for listening comprehension competence formation in English for prospective interpreters, distance learning types and methods for prospective interpreters in English. The technology of distance listening comprehension competence organization for prospective interpreters is described; audiotexts’ selection criteria and procedure in English for teaching correspondence future interpreters listening comprehension in English is represented; a subsystem of exercises for listening comprehension competence formation in English for prospective interpreters in distance learning is created; the process of organization of a distance listening comprehension course for future interpreters is described. The experimental teaching has proved the validity of the suggested methodology; its optimal edition has been substantiated. Methodological recommendations for teachers on organizing prospective interpreters’ listening comprehension of the texts of different genres in English have been developed.
