The thesis is aimed at the solution of the problem of forming the socio-cultural competence of future university English teachers by means of project work. The thesis contains an overview of the modern scientific ideas regarding the problem of forming the socio-cultural competence of future university English teachers by means of project work, followed by defining the aim and the structure components of the socio-cultural competence of future university English teachers; grounding the efficiency of English newspapers and magazines web-sites usage as a source of socio-cultural information; efficiency of using Opinion News Articles as a source of linguasociocultural material, which has the potential to critical analysis, followed by giving the definition of the Opinion News Article; defining Information and Research Project as a means of forming the socio-cultural competence of future university English teachers, and giving characteristics of its information and research components.
