The paper studies the problem of psychological development features of the environmental awareness of elementary school students. The theoretical approaches to empirical research of this problem are determined, the theoretical model of environmental awareness is developed. The structure and psychological content of its components (cognitive, emotional, behavioral) are investigated, criteria and indicators of levels of the development of environmental awareness of elementary school students are given, their psychological characteristic are given too. This paper investigated the dynamics of the development of environmental awareness, types of dominant attitudes in the attitude elementary school students to nature (cognitive, aesthetic, ethical, pragmatic), the leading components of their subjective attitude to nature (cognitive, perceptual-affective, practical, practical) were studied, types of emotional and value relation of children to nature (positive-active, positive-passive, neutral) were identified and characterized. In general, this research shows the peculiarities of environmental awareness are determined, depending on the place of living of the studied and gender differences. A program of psychological support for the development of the environmental awareness of elementary school students has been developed and tested.
