Ivanets T. Transformation of the Japanese party system

The thesis is concerned with analysis of transformation of the Japanese party system. The chronological framework of the research covers the years of 2009 - 2017. The main theoretical approaches to the study of party systems are characterized and the existing typologies of parties and party systems are researched. The author has also studied the interaction between the party and the election systems of the country. On the basis of generalized scientific experience, the author has developed her own approach to determining such concepts as "the party system" and "the political party". The level of the problem's scientific development and the framework of sources meant to study transformation of the Japanese party system are researched. The main scientific outcomes and sources concerned with the problem under research are classified. On the basis of analysis of the key methods and approaches, the methodological basis of the research is formed.
