Alekseeva Y. Kharkiv Provincial Gendarme Administration (1867-1917): Historical and Legal Research

The suggested scientific research is focused on the analysis of the organization and activities of the territorial agencies of the Gendarme Corps (political police) as an integral part of the repressive and punitive apparatus of the Russian Empire on the example of Kharkiv Provincial Gendarme Administration. The state of scientific mastery of the mentioned topic in the national historical and legal opinion has been characterized. The role and significance of Kharkiv Provincial Gendarme Administration in conducting the policy of autocracy in combating the national-liberation and revolutionary movement have been established; the evolution of the forms and methods of its practical work has been traced and the originality of such forms and methods has been revealed.
