Petlenko I. The concept of the history of philosophy by S. Radhakrishnan.

In the dissertation the complex historical and philosophical analysis of the philosophical heritage of S. Radhakrishnan, in particular, his works on the history of Indian philosophy was made, its theoretical potential in modern methodological historical and philosophical researches was revealed. It was determined the degree of research of Indian heritage by European and Indian scholars within the chronological periods of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, who were mainly engaged in translation of texts and analysis of the teachings presented by the Indian wise men of the period of antiquity and the Middle Ages. It was found out that the doctrine of the darshan of the Vedanta (in particular Advaita Shankara) and neo-Vedantism, as well as European modern philosophy, became the theoretical origins of the philosophical views of S. Radhakrishnan. The philosophical and religious status of Vedanta in the course of culture was determined. The Vedantists offer their abstract and logical comprehension of the way of the world existence and the possibilities of its cognition by the individual, based on the relation of Brahman, the only absolute of reality, and the Atman, the subjective spirituality.
