Essay

The thesis reveals theoretic and methodological fundamentals, operating environment and threats, and priorities for ensuring economic security of business entities on the world grain market. The author sheds light on specificity of the world grain market as the type of global commodities markets, researches the essence and classification of risks and threats to economic security of business entities on the world commodities markets, and discloses methodological approaches to evaluating economic security of business entities on the world grain market. The thesis features trading positions of Ukrainian business entities on the world grain market from the standpoint of economic security, analyzes the exogenous component of the array of threats to economic security of Ukrainian business entities on the world grain market and clarifies peculiarities of endogenous threats to economic security of Ukrainian business entities on the world grain market. The author substantiates the concept for ensuring economic security of Ukrainian business entities on the world grain market, conducts the modeling level of economic security of Ukrainian business entities on the world grain market and detects the special features of insuring agricultural risks as the tool for ensuring economic security of Ukrainian business entities on the world grain market. For the first time, the author has substantiated the mechanism for ensuring economic security of Ukrainian enterprises in the world grain market. This mechanism consists of institutional and organizational (measures to raise the level of economic security of Ukrainian enterprises exporting grain and conducting trade operation in the world commodity market), methodological (methodology for modeling the level of economic security of Ukrainian enterprises in the world grain market) and economic (self-regulation of the process of ensuring economic security of Ukrainian enterprises conducting export operations in the world grain market) components for achieving the double synergy effect. The acquired synergy is that, on the one hand, there are mutual reinforcement and harmonization of national and private interests; on the other hand, it is the synchronized pledging of economic security of the state and economic security of subjects of economic activities in the world grain market. The author has refined the conceptualization of spheres of ensuring the economic security of subjects of economic activity by complementing the conceptual framework with the term “economic security of enterprise in the world grain market”, which is the optimal state of utilizing the resources of the enterprises for the sake of their stable functioning and dynamic development, prevention of negative impacts of endogenous and exogenous threats while conducting transactions in the world grain market. The author has further developed the essential content of the state regulation of foreign trade in the grain market within the framework of the economic security of the state, which is the conjunction and mutual reinforcement of economic, organizational, administrative and legal measures in the conditions of informatization and innovatization of social production emphasizing the database forming and development of on-line grain trade networks for fostering foreign economic cooperation. The main scientific results achieved in this Doctoral research solve the important scientific task, namely the disclosure of conceptual and methodological fundamentals for evaluating and ensuring economic security of Ukrainian enterprises in the world grain market. The practical significance of theoretical foundations, conclusions and recommendations formulated by the author is that they constitute practical grounds for developing the economic security management model of agrarian enterprises.
