Object: visual informational space of the city architectural environment; purpose: study of visual communications in the urban environment as a process of creating, disseminating and perceiving visual communications, as well as the outcome of this process; methods: primary – observation, studying reference sources, surveys and secondary – quantitative and qualitative analysis, systematization of data; novelty: application of a linear model of communication that allows visual communications to be viewed as a multi-stage process, and signs of visual communication, located in urban space, as a result of this process; results: integrated program of forming visual image of a city; degree of implementation: application in the educational process, in architectural design and in introduction of real progress for improving visual qualities of the urban environment; area: architecture.
