Essay

The subject of research is the phenomena of excitation, radiation and scattering of electromagnetic oscillations and waves by the coupling elements and external sources in open resonant systems and environment. The aim of research is to determine the laws by experimental and theoretical methods for the radiation losses of coupling elements and excitation sources in quasi-optical open resonators. The methods of research are methods of measurement of Q-factor, power and frequency, trial-body method, method of equivalent circuits, methods of diffraction theory, specified field and specified currents. The results of research – experimentally and theoretically studied the lows of radiation energy losses in open resonators, developed new methods for measuring radiation losses, developed an original theoretical model of excitation of an open resonator, clarified the conditions for minimization of radiation losses and the reasons that lead to their growth, it is proved that the coupling elements in the form of slots have less radiation losses than the coupling elements in the form of holes. The field of application of research is the radiophysics, technique of the quasi-optical experiment, scientific instrument engineering.
