Essay

The thesis is concentrated on the study of the ethnic basis of Igor Kalynets’ trope system. Within the framework of logical-linguistic approach, the paper analyzes the tropes of the axis of pseudo-identities, represented on it by such coordinates as “pseudo-identity”, “similarity”, “analogy”, “association”. It has been found out that the tropes of the coordinate of pseudo-identities dominate; they are characterized by the maximum degree of assimilation of objects of extra-verbal reality, while the idiostyle of the writer is determined primarily by deployed tropеic units, which combine different semantic-syntactic relations. Syncretic tropes are highly productive too, such as a metaphor-comparison, formed on the basis of the interaction of pseudo-identity and similarity coordinates, which include metaphor-comparison with a metaphorical subject or a metaphorical object, or with a metaphorical subject and object simultaneously. The main models of creation of metaphors, personifications, metaphorical epithets and comparisons in the mythophothetic picture of the writer’s world have been defined and described according to the lexical-semantic nature of subjects and objects of comparison. It has been found that the models of comparisons and metaphors that testify the similarity of the poetic concepts with the natural sphere, in particular plant and animal, prevail. In personifications, the similarity to a person is more often based on a dynamic sign, and epithets mostly characterize the concept on the basis of a colour sign.
