The thesis is the first holistic study of aesthetic functioning of grammatical categories of the noun in poetic postmodern discourse (as exemplified in poetry Yu. I. Andruhovych, V. V. Neborak, A. V. Irvanets and O. S. Zabuzhko). The work describes systematically expressiveness of grammatical gender, number and case of the noun with using grammemes in the composition of artistic forms. The typical cases of aesthetic actualization of the noun categories in the poetic context are characterized, its influence on creation of occasionality at the morphological level is proved. The functional-semantic and aesthetic parameters related to the noun grammemes in the poetic postmodern discourse are defined, cases of actualization of the semantics of grammatical units in the composition associative image fields are studied. In the thesis, the formal deviations from the norm within the categories of gender, number and case are highlighted. Word-building patterns are systematized and ways of creating grammatical occasional modifications are described, occasional productive morphemes are defined. The semantic-syntactic functions of case grammemes in the artistic speech are determined. In the work the structure of the grammatical meaning of the category of gender of nouns, the characteristic of its aesthetic possibilities are studied. Aspects of the analysis of aesthetic resources of grammatical genders associated with the study of basic categories of aesthetics of the language and literature studies, in particular with the traditions due to the poetical form of artistic speech, with imagery of the text, with the individual characteristics of the style of the poet are revealed. The morphological category of gender of the noun appeared productive in aesthetic terms. In a significant number of cases, aesthetic actualization of gender is connected with change of the word semantics. The aesthetic potential of grammatical categories of number is analyzed and structured according to lexical and grammatical categories of the noun. In the group of abstract nouns, the largest number of grammatical modifications are revealed, resulting in the nouns with incomplete numerical paradigm transfer into a specific category. It is proved that, obtaining the plural form the words change partially or completely their lexical meaning. Tropeic position stimulates appearance of additional shades of meaning and gives expression to the occasional word form because its semantics are transformed in the direction of specificity. In the thesis primary and secondary semantic and syntactic functions of case grammemes in the composition of artistic tropes are characterized. The analysis is done based on the teachings of I. R. Vykhovanets on the cases of the noun in the Ukrainian language. The possessive forms are polysemantic (have the greatest number of components grammemes), which creates a wide scope for the emergence of semantic shades. It is found that cases have not only the functions assigned to each of them in syntax, but also the functions of other cases, forming occasionality of meanings. Semantic-syntactic relations between words are associated with the case meanings concentrated in the proposal around the predicate. The specialization of each case is its primary meaning as a specific grammeme of the case system. The secondary meanings of a case is viewed as atypical for a specific grammatical element, such that out of the meaning field of substantivity. Expressing the functions of such parts of speech like a verb, adjective and adverb (verbal, adjectival, adverbial transpositions), the case form leaves the realm of objectivity, obtaining shades meanings of definition and circumstances. Considering it is found that the emergence of occasionality in case meanings depends on both intralinguistic and extralinguistic factors. The poetic text contribute to the uniqueness of semantic shifts in language elements that due to their structure and richness of artistic devices and figurative words, which usually have a figurative meaning. The specifics of modern poetic speech is the intense aesthetic actualization of language units in the structure of literary tropes, in particular grammatical categories of the noun, which participate actively in the development of imagery and dynamic structures. The study materials can be used to create functional-categorical grammar of the Ukrainian language, writing textbooks and manuals on the morphology and syntax of the Ukrainian literary language, and reference books on speech culture, speech etiquette. In addition, the results can be applied as material for further study of theoretical aspects of morphological analysis, during the current teaching of the Ukrainian language, special courses, and seminars on the problems of categorical grammar in higher education institutions.
