Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the research of the problem of the professional commander’s competencies formation of the future borderguard officers in the process of studying general military subjects. The significance of professional commander’s competencies is revealed as an integrative property that encompasses a set of personal qualities and provides the ability to command the subordinate unit based on knowledge, skills and experience, as well as the experience of the commander’s activity obtained during the professional training; also their classification has been defined as: leadership, organizational, communicative. The criteria (motivational-cognitive, educational-productive, activity-behavioral) and indicators for the diagnosis of the formation of the professional commander’s competencies have been determined. On the basis of these criteria it has become possible to determine the levels of such formation – advanced, intermediate and basic. The following pedagogical conditions and the methodology of the professional commander’s competencies formation of future borderguard officers has been substantiated in the process of studying general military subjects «School of commander’s proficiency» as a set of various methods and ways of training the cadets. The target component of the methodology is reflected in the purpose of studying general military subjects and is realized through solving tasks of the educational process. The organizational component of the methodology represents the complex of educational terms such as the usage of possibilities of the general military disciplines in the development of cadets’ motivation to form the professional commander’s competencies; practicing forms and methods of interactive training in general military subjects; content up-date of the general military subjects in accordance with modern challenges and threats to operational service activity; orientation of cadets’ activity to self-improvement of the professional commander’s competencies in the process of studying general military subjects. The content component of the methodology comprises the complex of ways and techniques of organizing the formation the professional commander’s competencies of future borderguard officers according to the tasks of the pedagogical experiment. The result component represents a description of the expected result of the implementation the determined methodology in the educational process. According to the results of the research, methodological recommendations for the scientific and teaching staff as for the formation the professional commander’s competencies of future borderguard officers in the process of studying general military subjects have been developed.
