Essay

The results of evaluation of economic and biological characteristic of 18 varieties and 4 selection forms of red and white currant of Ukrainian and foreign selection, their adaptability to biotic and abiotic factors of the Western Forest-steppe zone of Ukraine are presented. The features of their fruiting and productivity are showen. The characteristic of berries is represented by commodity, consumer and technologicаl properties. Theoretically prowed the possibilityof highly profitable cultivation of high yield varieties for growing in industrial and small-scale plantings. In the zone of Western Forest-steppe of Ukraine it is reccomended to grow such varieties as Asya, Vatra, Snizhanka, Rosynka, Dana, Dar Orla, Vyborova, Bayana.
