Essay

The thesis is devoted to pharmacognostic study of medicinal plant raw material of Dahlia varieties, such as Ken's Flame, Gebu, and La Baron, as well as development of medicines on their basis. General macro- and microscopic signs of herb and root tubers of Dahlia varieties are determined. Total quantity of compounds determined in the raw material of Ken's Flame variety is 173, Gebu variety – 71, and La Baron variety – 68. A technology for obtaining a dry extract from herb of Ken's Flame Dahlia variety is developed. A technology for purification of "Jorzhin" complex of water-soluble polysaccharide fractions from root tubers of Ken's Flame Dahlia variety is developed, and inulin-type complex "Jorzhin-Ch" is obtained. The degree of polymerization of inulin chains and determination of free sugars in "Jorzhin" and "Jorzhin-Ch" complexes are studied by HPAEC-PAD method. It is determined that complex "Jorzhin-Ch" is more balanced in terms of short- (39,36 %), medium- (35,88 %), and long-chain (9,34 %) inulin content. Conditions for monosaccharides' determination in complexes "Jorzhin" "Jorzhin-Ch" are selected. A method for fructose standardization with α-naphthol in the presence of glucose is developed. 5 drafts of quality control methods for medicinal plant raw material and medicines are developed. Antimicrobial action of the dry extract of herb from Ken's Flame Dahlia variety, anti-diabetic action of "Jorzhin" and "Jorzhin-Ch" complexes, as well as wound-healing activity of "Daliin" emulgel on the basis of "Jorzhin-Ch" complex are investigated.
