Daghar S. Klinical and diagnostic and prognostic value of Galectin-3 in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with concomitant cardiovascular pathology

The thesis is devoted to optimizing the diagnosis and prognosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy based on the study of relationship of Galectin-3 concentration in serum from clinical and instrumental parameters. It was established that the level of Gal-3 is characterized by a large variability, was independent of hemodynamic form of the disease and the degree of hypertrophy, but was associated with anginal syndrome, the severity of the signs of heart failure, its functional class and severity of arrhythmias. Higher levels of Gal-3 was associated with a significant signs of cardiac remodeling. It was found that with increased of Gal-3 level increased the incidence of restrictive type of diastolic dysfunction. It was found a significant strong correlation of Gal-3 level with the progression of HCM. It is shown that the investigation of Gal 3 in the serum of patients with HCM is an informative method of additional examination of patients not so much for the specific diagnosis of the disease as for predicting its course with the allocation of patients with high risk of progressive course of HCM.
