Prosiana A. Research into Ukrainian legal discourse: structural-semantic and linguo-pragmatics aspects

This thesis presents a study of structural-semantic and linguo-pragmatic aspects of the speech genres of Ukrainian legal discourse in its legislative and judicial manifestations. The research defines the concept of legal discourse and reveals features of its genre varieties and forms' functioning. It also analyzes the specifics of the communicative roles of participants in a legal discourse as well as the speech strategies and tactics of their communicative behavior. The typologies of speech genres, communicative strategies and communicative roles of participants in judicial and legislative discourses have been developed. The lexical-grammatical features of legislative texts and court speeches are highlighted on the structural-semantic level.
