Essay

The object of research is the artistic consciousness of the XIX century, images and stories of European and American painting of the XIX century as a material for the reconstruction of the emancipatory ideas of the era. The aim of the research is to study the visual representations of the emancipated Others in the artistic consciousness of the XIX century on the material of European and American painting. Research methods. The methods of contemporary critical analysis of culture are used, in particular postcolonial analysis of visual texts, feminist and gender criticism, the method of discourse analysis, deconstructionist, historical-anthropological and psychoanalytic approaches. Theoretical and practical results. The philosophical project of emancipation as one of the directions of development of culture of the XIX century was developed. It is substantiated that emancipation as a socio-cultural phenomenon has a visual dimension, reflects in various forms, types and genres of artistic consciousness of the era, which allows us to speak of "visual anthropology" of emancipation in the XIX century. It is concluded that during the XIX century, the artistic consciousness becomes a space of struggle for "colonial" ("imperial", "aggressive") and emancipatory (anti-colonial, humanistic) cultural discourses, reflected in the difference in gender and racial representation of the Others. The novelty of the research results is in the analysis of emancipation processes of gender and racial minorities (cultural Others) and emancipatory discourses of the XIX century, which were reflected in the images and plots of painting of the XIX century. Implementation of research results. The scientific results of the dissertation may be theoretical and methodological basis for further study of emancipation as one of the most significant social phenomena. The conclusions of the research can be used for scientific developments in contemporary philosophy and theory of culture, history of culture, visual criticism, history of philosophy, cultural anthropology, art criticism and gender theory; for the introduction of new courses in philosophical anthropology, writing manuals on philosophical and cultural disciplines.
