Essay

The thesis is devoted to the complex study of the phenomenon of holiness and the clarification of its significance as an essential spiritual factor in the formation and development of various transformational processes in culture. The methodology of this study is based on the philosophical-anthropological and cultural-philosophical approach, which makes it possible to understand holiness as a projection of human and cultural existence. The cultural potential of Christian holiness has been revealed in relation to various aspects of social and cultural life. On the basis of the study of the interaction of the Orthodox tradition with its socio-cultural environment in the history of Ukraine - Rus, a number of aspects and mechanisms of transformations are analyzed that take place both in the spiritual environment under the influence of its sociocultural environment and in this environment under the influence of the Orthodox tradition with its holiness ideal. The study found that various kinds of distortions concerning holiness as a backbone of the Orthodox tradition lead to the formation and development of degradation processes both in the structure of the spiritual tradition and in culture in general, which in turn leads to destructive processes in the common life.
