Essay

The object is a book “Novela nashoho chasu” (Novel of Our Time) (1931) of Geo Shkurupii as a sphere of innovative researches of the “restructuring period”; the aim is to interpret the novelistics of Geo Shkurupii as a problem and poetic sphere which correlates with the process of updating the mechanisms of internal distinctiveness and transformation of this genre into a “transition period”/ “restructuring period”, which has discovered the paradox of the “time spirit” / “living through the period” and the writer’s individual searching; methods – transdisciplinary reading of the work, formal, psychoanalytic, methodology of philosophy of life; novelty consists in studying the genre of the novella of Geo Shkurupii as a problem and poetic unity. The book “Novela nashoho chasu” (Novel of Our Time) (1931), which is a space designed according to the laws of the paradox of time and the classification of novellas corresponding to it, on the basis of homo(hetero)genous avanguard, techniques of formalism, psychoanalysis, philosophy of life, has been analyzed in the research for the first time; the novelty also consists in the investigation of the experimental searches of Geo Shkurupii not only as a representative of the post-revolutionary avanguard in Bolshevik Ukraine, but also as a writer of the European orientation and European values, who expanded the scope of trivial literary landscapes, thereby breaking the stereotype of considering him a minor writer; results – the materials can be used in teaching the course of history and theory of the Ukrainian literature of the XXth century in higher educational institutions, during the development of special courses, seminars on the problem, monographic studies, while working on diploma and term papers; field – philology.
