Husak L. Pharmacognostic research of Stachys sieboldii Miq.

The systematic pharmacognostic research of stachys herb and root tubers was carried out for the first time. The presence and quantitative content of amino acids, carbohydrates, organic acids and ascorbic acid, lipophilic compounds (chlorophylls, carotenoids and fatty acids), volatile compounds, phenolic compounds (hydroxycinnamic acids, flavonoids, tannic substances and polyphenols), saponins, macro- and micronutrients were determined.The content of fructans was determined in the herb and root tubers of Stachys sieboldii. The systematic macro- and microscopic analysis of Stachys sieboldii herb and root tubers was conducted at the first time and main diagnostic features of their morphological and anatomical structure were determined. The optimal technology of the obtaining of substances: thick extract from root tubers and dry extract from stachys leaves was elaborated. The safety of these extracts was determined: after the acute toxicity investigation they were referred to the V class of the substances toxicity according to K. К. Sidorov classification (practically nontoxic substances – LD50 ≥ 5000 mg/kg). Antiexudative activity of dry extract of Stachys sieboldii in dose 10 mg/kg was set (has a distinct antiexudative effect at the time of histamine and leukotrienes release). The hypoglycemic activity of the thick extract from Stachys sieboldii root tubers was evaluated at the dose 50 mg/kg. The projects of quality control methods for "Stachys sieboldii Root Tubers", "Stachys sieboldii Herb", "Stachys sieboldii Dry Herbal Extract" and "Stachys sieboldii Dense Root Tuber Extract" were elaborated.
