Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of the main genre-stylistic characteristics of the chimerical prose of the late 50-70's of the ХХ century. The preconditions of the appearance of chimerical prose in Ukrainian literature; the influence of subjective author's modality, contextual factors and textual strategies on the formation of genre syncretism of chimerical prose are motivated; the stylistic transformations typical for Ukrainian chimerical prose are investigated, the emergence of which is consistent with the dominant artistic trends of the day. The literary-critical works on the genesis of the term "chimerical prose" are outlined. Also it is motivated the usage of a number of methods and techniques, through which the phenomenon of "chimerical prose" is considered. The concept of "chimerical prose", its understanding in the historical retrospective literary context and the interpretation of this term at the present stage are described.
